Dominant fragility 

The fear of being conquered

a contemporary leg cuff

Perplexing gender roles

and powerplay of vulnerability

I feel brave

when I’m adrift

and tread on your toes

While a dominant past

of female efforts

weighs me down

The humming sound

from the machinery

continues

I am deformed
